Swim School at Troy Gym 4 is a brand new family-owned swim school in the Metro Detroit area! Our personalized program in our new premiere pool offers many exciting family-friendly options for children of all ages. As part of Troy Gym facilities, Swim School is the newest of more than 16 programs TG offers. Bring your family to swim with our family! Troy Gym offers rolling enrollment. Students can join classes at any time during the month and will have the same class schedule until you tell us otherwise! Tuition will be automatically charged on the first of every month.
Please see the group swim lesson age ranges and descriptions below to find a good fit for your child. You child should be able to perform all skills listed in the "Must be able to" section of the enrollment/registration page. We may suggest moving to a different level following your first class if instructors feel your child is better suited for a different level. Please contact swimschool@troygym.com with questions.
To drop a class, Troy Gym requires written notification. Send an email to drop@troygym.com seven days before the first of the month to ensure your credit card will not be charged the month’s tuition. The email must contain the parent’s name, student’s name, and the class you will be dropping.
All classes are 30 minutes long and will be held in TG4 unless otherwise noted.
BABIES/TODDLERS
BABIES & TODDLERS 1/2
Ages 6 mo-3 years
This fun introduction to the water will improve social interaction with basic water familiarization. Encouraging bonding with the parent and safety skills for both parent and child.

*Children who complete Babies & Toddlers 2 may transition to Advanced Toddlers or Preschool 1
ADVANCED TODDLERS
Ages 18 mo-3 years
This low ratio class is independent of parents, develops confidence while building basic swim and safety skills.
Prerequisites: Must be able to perform wall waking, pull and kick simultaneously using barbell/noodle, float on back with assistance, blow bubbles with face in water. Safely enter and exit water with little assistance
*Children who complete Advanced Toddlers may transition to
Preschool 1.
PRESCHOOL
PRESCHOOL 1
Ages 3-5 years
Developing the basic skills of floating, kicking, and pulling while becoming more comfortable in the water.
*Children who complete Preschool 1 may transition to Preschool 2.
PRESCHOOL 2
Ages 3-5 years
Building skills to include streamlining, backstroke, and full submersion with increasing independence.
Prerequisites: Must be able to submerge with open eyes, basic kicking, float independently 5 seconds, safe wall entry & jump entry
*Children who complete Preschool 2 may transition to Preschool 3 or School Age 1.
PRESCHOOL 3
Ages 3-5 years
Improving basic skills of streamlining with freestyle and backstroke and introducing proper breath technique and breaststroke.
Prerequisites: Must be able to kick with board, float for more than 5 seconds, glide & recover, swim on back, basic pull & kick
*Children who complete Preschool 3 may transition to School Age 2.

Ages 6-12 years
Building skills to include streamlining, backstroke, and full submersion with increasing independence.

SCHOOL AGE 4
Ages 6-12 years
Continue refining freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and introducing butterfly and turns.
Prerequisites: Must be able to perform basic freestyle & backstroke, strong kick, pull, ability to roll for breath, basic breaststroke arm & leg action with near/correct timing, basic dolphin kick
SCHOOL AGE 5
Ages 6-12 years
Continue refining and improve endurance, introducing starts and transitions for individual medley.
Prerequisites: Must be able to perform efficient freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, using correct timing & breathing. Basic butterfly, correct kicking action
SCHOOL AGE 6
Ages 6-12 years
Continue improving endurance, introducing pace clocks, circle swim, and learning to build swim sets.
Prerequisites: Must be able to perform efficient freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke for 50 yards, correct timing & breathing. Full butterfly for 25 yards with correct breathing. Basic open & flip turns

Ages 6-12 years
Focusing on endurance, speed, and fitness to prepare for
competitive swimming.
*Must complete School Age 6 or pass a swim evaluation

ADULT AQUATICS
ADULT CLASSES
Ages 13+ years
Help participants gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. Teach skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water and to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency.

WATER EXERCISE
Ages 16+ years
Gentle, no-impact group fitness classes, suitable for all ability levels taught in a 4 ft., 88-90 degree pool. Drop-in and monthly passes available. Senior discount available to participants 60 and older. Must call ahead or register online to reserve your spot.
PRIVATE LESSONS
All Ages
Work one-on-one with an instructor to develop or refine skills and strokes. All ages and skill levels can be accommodated. Semi-private lessons also available. Email us at swimschool@troygym.com for more details or to set up a private lesson.
